Hosting the Calamity Room

Hannah was invited by the House of PMO to host the Calamity Room, which featured sessions including You Can't Deliver Everything: Smarter Portfolio Planning in the Age of AI led by Samantha Varner, The Minimum Viable PMO: When Done is Better than Perfect with Dr Jorg Klein, and a session on the cultural change required when transforming a PMO, delivered by Ali Williams.

What the team took away

A key theme of the day was the role of artificial intelligence in project management. The consensus among speakers and delegates was that AI is best understood as a tool to assist teams, rather than a replacement for human judgement. It was also noted that AI outputs are only as effective as the data and prompts that inform them.

For our team, the conference offered valuable reassurance that the challenges they navigate are shared across the sector, as well as practical ideas to inform future development of the PMO function. Hannah’s hosting role also provided an opportunity for professional development and strengthened connections with industry leaders.
