Building stronger connections across Government's shared services community
Our senior leaders recently joined colleagues from across Government to share knowledge and learn from each other at the Shared Services Community of Practice event, hosted by the Government's Shared Services for Government team and the Cabinet Office.

What is the Community of Practice?
This cross-Government working group brings together teams who are all working towards the same goal: enabling responsive and efficient global business services through professionalism and expertise.
Why it matters
Victoria McMyn, our Chief Corporate Delivery Officer, explained why these connections are so valuable, she said "It was a great opportunity to connect with people tackling similar challenges, to learn from them, and to share our knowledge, expertise and experiences."
The group discussed some important developments, including how shared services strategy and governance is evolving across Government. This work directly supports the Government's investment in creating a more productive and agile state, as outlined in the recent Spending Review 2025.
Who's involved
The meetings bring together representatives from the Government’s five Shared Service Clusters that are collaborating on the Shared Services Strategy: Defence, Overseas, Synergy, Unity, and Matrix. Each cluster includes multiple government departments working together to improve how services are delivered.
Looking ahead
We're grateful to the Shared Services for Government team and the Cabinet Office for organising such a valuable event. These kinds of collaborative discussions help us all do better work for the people we serve.
We're looking forward to continuing to build these relationships and share more knowledge within the Shared Services Community of Practice.
