UKSBS is a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) operating in the public sector.
Since 2023, following a Machinery of Government change, our ownership has reflected the replacement of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for International Trade (DIT) with 3 new departments: the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).
With further Machinery of Government changes announced in the summer of 2026 we expect our ownership to change as the Department for Science Innovation and Technology, (DSIT) has been dissolved and the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Technology (BIST) has been established.
UKRI remains an owner.
