Artificial intelligence is creating new opportunities across the public sector, but its value lies in supporting people, improving services and delivering practical outcomes.

At UKSBS, colleagues are exploring responsible uses of AI from analysis and decision-making to technical services and customer support, helping reduce unnecessary effort and create more time for work requiring expertise and judgement.

Building skills and confidence

Colleagues are using AI for information gathering, content creation, analysis and data interpretation. UKSBS is investing in learning and development to build the skills and confidence to use these tools effectively and responsibly.

Supporting better services

Within Digital and Information services, engineering teams use AI-enabled tools for code analysis, infrastructure management and security monitoring. This reduces manual effort and helps specialists maintain secure, reliable and resilient services.
UKSBS is also exploring how AI could help customer-facing teams access information, identify trends and reduce administration, creating more time to support customers and resolve complex queries.

Keeping people at the centre

Human oversight remains central. Colleagues review outputs, apply professional judgement and ensure information is handled appropriately.
